Civil Remembrance 2020

Residents of Publow, Pensford and Woollard are being encouraged to mark Remembrance Day at home this year.

Due to the restrictions imposed to help stop the spread of coronavirus, residents are being respectfully reminded not to put themselves or others at risk by gathering to pay their respects.

At the War Memorial Janette Stephenson (Chairman of the Parish Council) will lay a wreath on behalf of all residents and a brief prayer will be said by Rev Denise Calverley.  Residents are asked not to attend the War Memorial because its location by the A37 means there is not enough room to safely respect social distancing rules.

It has been reported that there are several confirmed cases in locality and so it is extremely important that further spread of the disease is prevented.

The British Legion have said that despite the changes this year, they are encouraging people across the nations to ensure Remembrance Sunday is still marked appropriately by taking part in remote and socially distanced Remembrance activity, whether that be watching the service on television, live stream or pausing for the Two Minute Silence in their home or on their doorsteps.
