Emergency Road Closure – Wick Lane, Stanton Wick

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE BY VEHICLES
 
In pursuance of Section 14(2)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984: 

BATH AND NORTH EAST SOMERSET COUNCIL HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that on 10th December 2022, Wick Lane, Stanton Wick shall be closed to all traffic, in the interests of public safety, to enable Bristol Water to carry out emergency repairs to a burst main.
The road will be closed at Wick Lane, Stanton Wick from its point outside the property known as Parsons Farm, but the closure shall not apply to any vehicle associated with the works.
Alternative Route: Diversion will be clearly signed on site.
The closure and diversion will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.

These works will commence on 10th December 2022 and the road closure is anticipated to be required for 4 days. This Notice will have a maximum duration of 6 days.

Woodland Creation Project in Publow: Drop-in Session

Local charities Avon Needs Trees and the Forest of Avon Trust are hoping to plant a new woodland in Publow this winter.  This would provide great opportunities for local people to volunteer to plant trees and enjoy the land whilst creating new jobs in the area.

We have completed letter drops to immediate neighbours but would like to invite the wider community to a drop-in session to look at early plans and input into the process.

Come and join us at the Pensford Memorial Hall anytime from 5:30pm-7:30pm on Friday 14th October 2022.

Duck Race & Family Fun Day in Pensford

To round-off a wonderful summer, Pensford Tennis Club is hosting a special all-day event!

Our annual duck race was postponed due to the period of mourning, but is now coming back to the Rising Sun, in Church Street, Pensford on Sunday 9th October 2022 starting at 11 AM.

The event is open to everyone, and no booking is required. The race will start at 2.00 pm but before that there will be lots of fun activities starting from 11 AM.

Families and children can enjoy activities including Ball in a Bucket, Lucky Dip, Raffle, Guess the Weight of the Duck and Duck Hoopla.

Proceeds are in aid of the tennis club new clubhouse fund.

You can buy as many ducks as you like, even if you can’t attend. They cost £1 each and they can be purchased through the tennis club website www.pensfordtennisclub.co.uk.

Please visit the website for further information. Refreshments will, of course, be available from the Rising Sun, so just come along and enjoy the fun.

Funding for Household Energy Efficiency

Bath & West Community Energy (BWCE) are promoting the Bright Green Homes initiative to householders in Bath & North East Somerset.

This energy efficiency scheme, funds and supports low-income households (owner occupier or private rented), not on gas heating and with low energy efficiency ratings to install a range of insulation measures and low carbon technologies.

A page on the BWCE website provides:

  • The range of insulation and low carbon technologies that can be funded under the scheme
  • Details of the eligibility criteria
  • A link to the expression of interest form
  • A checklist of information needed to complete the expression of interest form, including how to find information on your Energy Performance Certificate (EPC).
  • A basic outline of what happens next if a household is considered eligible.

Book of Condolence available on the Mobile Library

A Book of Condolence will be available on the Mobile Library that is due to visit Pensford next week on Tuesday.

Libraries and Books of Condolence

  • Books of condolence will remain open at the Guildhall in Bath and at Keynsham Community space and Midsomer Norton Library and Information Service this week under normal office hours. You can find these here: https://beta.bathnes.gov.uk/hm-queen-elizabeth-ii
  • On Sunday 18 September and Monday 19 September they will open from 9.30am-4.30pm at the Guildhall. They will also be open at Keynsham Community space and Midsomer Norton Library and Information Service on Sunday from 10am to 4pm and from 1pm to 4pm on Monday.
  • The books of condolence will close at 5pm on Tuesday 20 September.
