Take part in Census 2021

Census day of Sunday 21 March is nearly here. Every household should complete the Census and it can be done either online or on paper.

Online: It should only take 10 minutes to fill in the Census online, using the code you have received from the Office for National Statistics in the post. You can use a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer.

No online access? You can visit a local Census Support Centre to use their online facilities to complete the Census and get help with doing this.

Alternatively, you can request a paper census questionnaire to be sent to you in the post to either complete at home, or to take to a local Census Support Centre if you think you will need some help to fill it in. You can request a paper copy using the link above or by calling 0800 876 6276 – please have your unique household access code handy.

Not received your Census code? You can request a new access code to start a new census if you have lost or not received an access code.

When to fill in the Census: You can complete your Census as soon as you receive your letter or paper questionnaire but make sure you answer about your household as you expect it to be on Census Day. Ideally you should complete your Census on 21 March but, if this is not possible, you can do so as soon as possible afterwards.

What happens if I don’t fill it in? Census field officers will follow up with households after Census Day if householders have not yet completed their questionnaire.
